Space X launch delayed

The scheduled launch from the Cape of the Dragon spacecraft has been delayed for approximately one week. It will be the first privately owned spaceship to visit the International Space Station. Looks like probably May 7 for new launch date. This is the forerunner of the craft that will resume carrying astronauts.

So long, Discovery

Space Shuttle Discovery on her last day in Florida this morning just after sunrise. A sad moment to watch this spacecraft which has been such a big part of this community do it's last flyby atop the 747 on it's way to the Smithsonian. The beaches were packed with everyone getting their last glimpse of her in flight.

It's the parking, silly.

Above shot is Easter Sunday looking south towards the 1st (northern) parking
lot in Patrick Air Force Base know to the locals as Picnic Tables. The shot
below is looking north from the same spot (at the same time) into Cocoa Beach
where there is no public parking until you get to the city limits at around 18th Street
South. That's the simple secret to the uncrowded beaches of south Cocoa Beach.
