Looking south from Waters Edge

Looking south from high in Waters Edge gives one a good perspective of how narrow the island is here and why the beaches are so uncrowded, low population density. The total lack of public parking also contributes. South Cocoa beach rocks.

Cafe Surfinista update

The Cafe Surfinista in downtown Cocoa Beach has been Richter with crowds since opening a couple of weeks ago. My expectations have been exceeded with the variety and quality of the offerings. I've managed to work my way through less than half the menu and it's all been good. If you're into healthy casual food, this place should be on your list. There is another menu of smoothies, bowls and drinks not included here. Click on any of the menu pages to get a larger view.

August Banana River morning

Early morning in south Cocoa Beach.

250 Palm Trees

The newly planted sabal palms above are part of a Brevard County Natural Resources Department project that includes planting 250 these trees and 150 sea grapes at 29 oceanfront street ends in Cocoa Beach to reduce upland lighting impacts on hatchling sea turtles. As a beneficial side effect, the streets are looking much better. Good job.
